I love advertising. Or any of the pseudonyms that it chooses to go by – social, online video, activation, content, engagement, etc. It’s all about getting a strategic idea out in the world to embrace an opportunity or solve a problem. And yes, I love it.
I am enjoying a fairly successful career (and interesting life) by finding myself somewhat off the traditional path(s). Denver, Tempe, Boulder, Ketchum, Saigon (aka Ho Chi Minh City), Hong Kong, Bangkok, Saigon (again), San Francisco, Boulder (again), Des Moines, and now Tampa.
I rather enjoy teaching and mentoring the future of the industry. Did so professionally at my alma mater and with the One Club for a bit. And will always find the time to answer any questions asked, or look at a book and offer some constructive thoughts. As much as I enjoyed and found it incredibly rewarding to be making future ad makers. I missed making the actual ads.
I dig travel, wine, and live music. And will be booking tickets tout de suite should an opportunity arise to hit the trifecta in one trip.
I care about the environment.* Since I was six, and hanging with Mrs. Steele’s CLAW (Clean Land Air Water) club, I’ve been the guy that will, sometimes grossly, take the misplaced trash out of the recycling bin, and put it in the right container. Or vice versa. And should I witness you discard a cigarette butt on the ground, we are going to have a word. Of course, I don’t mean ‘you’. You would never do that. But some folks do.
I like to think I lead with empathy, embrace responsibility, stay cool like Ringo, and with the exception of the five previous paragraphs as well as this one that all started uncomfortably with ‘I’, I am all about the ‘we’.
*Started this way back in 2015 to celebrate the little things/or moments we can practice to help sustainability. I really should post more on it.
