PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE - UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO BOULDER

In 2016, as I was considering returning to the US from Asia, a synchronistic meeting turned into an opportunity to teach fulltime at my alma mater, The University of Colorado Boulder, one of the most recognized 4-year university advertising programs in the country. At the beginning, it wasn’t easy. And I wasn’t very good. In 2018, I was nominated for Educator of the Year by AdClub CO.

I enjoyed sharing what I know in concepting, design, copywriting and putting a portfolio together with about 100 students per semester. Always approaching it as if they were creative teams and I was their CD. After about four years, I realized that as much as I enjoyed ‘making’ the next generation of ad stars, I missed working with people to make actual things.

Below are some of the students I worked with. Humbled.

THE DAIRY SHOW
I also helped bring back some of the glory of The Dairy Show, the students' end of year exhibition/awards. In 2017, it returned to the Dairy Arts Center, for which it was orginally named. I worked with the space and caterers, conceived and made the milk bottle awards, and ran the show.

THE YOUNG ONES
In 2017 and 2019, I helped organize trips to New York for our Young Ones winners, including arranging visits to some great agencies.
